A collection of articles on food, kitchens and culinary customs beginning with the advent of agriculture in the Near East and spanning the history of Sri Lanka, with reference to trade centring on the island nation, colonial influences and multi-ethnic indigenous crafts and traditions. The papers are based on lectures presented at an interdisciplinary conference organized by Lanka Decorative Arts (LDA) held in Colombo and Galle in 2016.
