This is a unique collection of Hungarian poems because this is the very first time that the poems of Sandor Petofi and pieces from Fellow Hungarian poets are translated to Filipino and five other Philippine Languages. Petofi was a visionary artist, who used his pen as a tool to fight for freedom, democracy and national identity. Through his works he became a symbol of Hungarian literature and culture, inspiring generations of writers and artists. This year gives us another important milestone to celebrate as we mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Philippines. Such significant anniversaries provide an excellent opportunity to gain more impetus to better understand each other’s culture and bring the two countries closer together.
