Reading the pages written in Caricatures in Saigon Newspapers Before 1975, I feel even more admired for the talent, energy and enthusiasm for the profession of the artists in their journey to expose social reality using the language of caricature. They are not only good at expressing ideas concisely with vivid images, but also react very quickly to current issues in a rush to keep up with the print edition while still ensuring viewers can understand the hidden meaning behind the graphic layer. That was the period when Southern society was in a situation of constant war and a complicated political situation that affected almost every aspect of social life, presenting unprecedented circumstances. Caricatures at that time could be personal satire, mocking people's bad habits or satirizing policies and politicians. Many times, the person holding the brush has to bet his personal freedom to express his views through a cartoon, and the newspaper also has to bet its life to publish it.
