The Canterbury Mountaineering Club is one of New Zealand's Leading regional climbing clubs. In the following decades some members climbed at the cutting edge of New Zealand alpinism while others were content to climb easier peaks and cross alpine passes. The Club has been home to those who enjoy finding recreation in the mountains at all levels. In this centennial history several members have written about different activities of the Club they have been engaged in or that are of particular interest to them. The result is a well-informed, lively history of a Club that has played a major role in the history of New Zealand mountaineering. The book is profusely illustrated with historical photographs as well as spectacular photographs of members' daring ascents in New Zealand and overseas.
